LOL it's 2024 now but the topic still prevails. I literally just had to parent my mom on the phone. As an immigrant child. At 29.
*gasp* you said this to your mom?!
hurtful hurtful.
Let the tears fall, the words roar. But also maybe let the laughter out; a reminder of a time of when someone changed your diapers and now you are changing theirs.
Parenting your parent is not about disrespect nor is it about ego. It is about setting boundaries and honoring them. It is about sharing the knowledge, that we're all constantly growing till we stop. This is about realizing that we all play a part in our community as we age from youth.
My grandma laughed as I helped her in the bathroom. She reminded me not too long ago that I was just a baby in her care.
