Friends Behind Enemy Lines

OOOOh yes, you've heard the phrase you can't be everybody's friend. Okay, understood. But who told you that before? Must be family, right?
And yet as we grow older, we come to realize that the big family dynamic can be both endearing and political. It can get dicey and often if there isn't a strong need to come together, holidays are spent in small gatherings instead of a big party.
Sure you can go ahead and curate your small circle experience and meditate to feel grounded. The isolation does you good, it gives you a chance to heal and be your own person. You enjoy your routines and avoid the bad energy. But at some point, you just end up making your ability to deal with change extremely small and narrow. You haven't exercised the muscle of being a people person.
I get it, I'd be a hermit for peace too but politics work because of bi-partisan work. It was Pete Buttigieg that reminded me that working with people gets the job done. But what about values? Pride? Well, it depends on your priorities. Mike Tyson reminded me while there is valor, sometimes it doesn't get you paid. But that doesn't mean values, won't pay you out handsomely. Just know what your end game is.
Make friends behind enemy lines. It ultimately gets you farther and to your destination if you're able to navigate the shark infested waters. You might get a big pay out too.
